Williams’ hat trick leads Lady Rams to thrilling win

Valley’s girls soccer team kicked off area play on Monday night as the Lady Rams hosted Beauregard. It was Valley that came out on top 4-3 in a back-and-forth match.
Molly Williams put the Rams ahead early as she scored two goals in the opening stages of the first half. The Hornets came storming back late in the first half as Roshonda Arnold put one through the net with just over eight minutes left in the first half.
Beauregard’s offense kept it going early in the first half Kylie Stevenson tied the game at two just eight minutes into the second half.
The Lady Rams regained the lead with just under 22 minutes left to go as Simone Floyd scored off of an assist from Williams. Floyd finished with one goal and an assist.
The Lady Hornets rallied back with a goal from Lesly Duran with 14:25 left in the game. Williams had led the Lady Rams throughout the match, and she came through again when her team needed it most.
Williams found a small opening and took a shot from well outside the box. The ball just went over the goalkeeper’s outstretched arms and gave Valley the lead with just 2:49 left in the match.
Williams was defended by three or more defenders when Valley possessed the ball, but that did not matter. Williams put together a stellar performance, scoring three goals on 11 shot attempts and adding an assist.
Katelyn Deloach was the keeper for the Rams on Monday and allowed three goals. Aside from the three goals, Deloach had a solid night. Deloach finished with 13 saves on Monday.
Daniela Cardenas put together a solid performance on defense for Valley. Cardenas consistently won possession back for the Rams and contributed one assist.
The win on Monday starts the Lady Rams with a 1-0 record in area play. Valley now sits at 2-2 on the season overall. The Lady Rams have a short turnaround as the team travels to face Elmore County on Tuesday.
