After winning the area for the first time in more than a decade, the Beulah Bobcats saw their season come to an end at the hands of New Brockton in a sweep at home. 

 

GAME ONE:

BEULAH – 4

NEW BROCKTON – 10

 

The Bobcats had very little success in game one despite taking an early lead in the contest. After a scoreless top of the first, Beulah scored two runs in the bottom of the innings to capture an early lead. Back-to-back errors from New Brockton allowed the two runs to reach home safely. 

New Brockton halved the deficit with a run in the top of the second before taking a 4-1 lead with three runs in the fifth inning. The Gamecocks were not done there and blew the game open with four runs in the top of the fifth.

The Bobcats got a couple of consolation runs in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run single from Sye Siggers, but New Brockton got both runs back in the top of the seventh to retake a six-run lead.

Siggers was the main man on offense in game one, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Wes Grant also had two hits while Trent Tidwell and Braydon Tapley had a hit each to round out the offense for the Bobcats.

Drew Duval got the start on the mound and went 4 ⅓ innings. Siggers, Tapley and Kason Kalia all saw time in relief on the mound.

 

GAME TWO:

BEULAH – 5

NEW BROCKTON – 6

 

Game two was pure heartbreak for the Bobcats as their season came to an end. The team went down swinging, but a late run from the Gamecocks was enough to see them through to the next round.

It was Beulah who got off to the better start, scoring two runs in the top of the first. Devin Suggs and Ryder Lowery both hit one-run singles to give the Bobcats an early 2-0 lead.

The Gamecocks quickly cut that lead in half with a run in the bottom of the first before tying the game up at two runs apiece in the second.

Momentum swung back and forth like a pendulum all game and it continued in the third when Beulah retook the lead. Lowery hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run and give the Bobcats a 3-2 lead. 

The Gamecocks came storming right back and took a 4-3 lead after three innings and pushed their lead up to 5-3 in the fourth. 

The deficit would stay at two runs until the sixth inning. The Bobcats put on their rally caps and tied the game up at five runs apiece, but left the bases loaded as they could not find a way to retake the lead. Beulah would be made to pay in the bottom of the sixth when the Gamecocks scored the winning run. 

The Bobcats attempted a seventh-inning rally and got the tying run to third and the potential winning run all the way to second, but could not come away with a decisive hit.

Lowery was a stud at the plate for the Bobcats despite the loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Suggs and B Blackston each had two hits apiece as well while Grant, Tidwell and Jadin Hancock all had a hit each.

Blackston got the start on the mound before making way for Grant in the third inning. The Bobcats finish with an 11-13 record on the season.
