Chambers Academy needed very little offense on Tuesday as Jon Caulfield dazzled on the mound and finished with a complete game no-hitter to give the Rebels a 4-0 win over Ezekiel Academy.
Caulfield has served in many different roles this season for the Rebels. Caulfield has spent a lot of time in the bullpen, but Caulfield got the start on Tuesday and put together one of the best performances you can see from a high school pitcher. Caulfield allowed no hits, no runs, three walks and struck out nine batters in seven innings on the mound on Tuesday.
Chambers Academy largely relied on its pitcher, but the Rebels still had to score runs. The scoring got started in the bottom of the fourth inning as two errors led to Luke Tarver and Grey Hayley scoring.
The Knights continued to struggle on defense in the late stages of the game as an error in the bottom of the sixth inning allowed Kole Baker to score, and another error in the inning allowed Kyle Hand to score and give the Rebels a 4-0 lead.
The Rebels were perfect on defense, finishing with no errors, but it was a tough night at the plate for Chambers Academy. Luke Tarver was the only hitter to finish with a hit between both teams as he went 1-for-2.
The win pushed Chambers Academy to 13-13 on the season. Up next for the Rebels is a matchup at home against Southern Christian on April 15.
