Lady Rams fall in tough matchup against Tallassee

The Lady Rams struggled to rally from an early deficit on Thursday against Tallassee as Valley fell to the Tigers 16-4 at home.
Tallassee had all cylinders firing from the first pitch on Thursday as six hits, two errors, a walk and a hit batter led to the Tigers taking a 9-0 lead out of the top of the first inning.
Mackenzie Atkins helped the Rams find some life in the Bottom of the first as she drove in Amari Lowe with a ground out.
Three more walks, three hits and another error helped Tallassee add four more runs in the top of the second inning. Defense was a struggle for the Rams throughout the matchup as Valley finished with seven errors.
Reese Riley started and finished the game in the circle for Valley. Riley allowed 14 hits, seven walks and six earned runs while striking out six batters in five innings.
Valley found its way back on the board in the bottom of the third inning as Amari Lowe drove in a run with a groundout to make it 13-2. Tallassee stifled the rally with two more runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 14-run lead.
The Rams had their backs against the wall in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the girls refused to give in with two outs. Lowe drove in another run with a triple before scoring on a passed ball to round out the scoring.
Despite the tough loss, Lowe was stellar at the plate for the Rams. Lowe went 2-for-3 in the game with two runs and one RBI.
The loss dropped Valley to 3-13 on the season. The Rams will need to recover quickly as they travel to Tallassee on April 9.
