The National Day of Prayer will be on May 2, and many cities in the county are hosting events. In Lanett, the annual event will be hosted at the W.O. Lance Recreation Field at 12 p.m. ET. 

In Valley, the day of prayer will be held at the Fairfax First Baptist Church at 6 p.m. ET. 

The National Day of Prayer is an annual event that began as a way for the community to pray for the nation and the schools in the U.S. 

Many churches are involved in planning for the event. Lanett First Baptist, Pilgrim Baptist, Mt. Hermon Baptist, First Christian Church of Lanett, Lanett Congregational Christian and Plant City Baptist are involved every year. 

The Day of Prayer is not about denominations. Everyone is allowed to participate regardless of religious affiliation. Chambers County has been hosting a Day of Prayer at the county seat, LaFayette, for over 20 years.
