UPDATE: SWAT called to Valley Home
Published 9:55 am Friday, April 19, 2024
On Thursday night, the Valley Police Department was called to 30th Street after receiving a call about suspected domestic violence at a residence.
According to Captain Stacey Shirey of the Valley Police Department, the call seems to have been made by a neighbor. It was reported that a domestic violence situation between Brandon Osteen, 32, of Valley and a woman was happening at the residence and that Osteen had pointed a gun at her. While VPD did find ammunition during a search of the house, officers did not find a gun.
Because Osteen and the female victim were not in a relationship there was no domestic violence charge, instead, Osteen was charged with obstructing government operations. There were no injuries reported.
“It was an argument that escalated,” Shirey said. “The large amount of officers was due to the fact that we had the SWAT team training about five minutes away…Then they took control and [Osteen] came out on his own after a phone call from one of the SWAT team members, and gave himself up.”
Osteen has been arrested before according to Shirey. He is currently at the Chambers County Jail and has a bond.
Valley PD will be conducting the investigation, which is ongoing.
