On Thursday night, the Valley Police Department was called to 30th Street after receiving a call about potential domestic violence at a residence. When they arrived, police found a male resident had barricaded himself inside the house with a firearm, according to VPD Captain Stacey Shirey.
When the officers realized the suspect had a gun, the Multi-jurisdiction SWAT team was contacted. Once the SWAT team arrived and called the man out of the house the suspect surrendered himself to the police. Valley PD will be conducting the investigation and searching the residence.
The man was arrested with menacing under the domestic violence law. He was then taken to the Chambers County Jail where he will be held on a 24-hour hold.
