Marianne Sargent Duncan, West Point, Georgia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 22, 2024. Memorial services are planned for June 6, 2024, at Manna Fellowship in West Point, Georgia with Rev. Danny Smith and Rev. Doug Crossman officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m.

     Marianne was born in West Point, Georgia, October 31, 1935, the daughter of the late Vashti Bohler Sargent and James (Jimmy) Arnold Sargent. She graduated from West Point High School and Agnes Scott College, Decatur, Georgia with a Fine Arts degree. Marianne and Kap Duncan married in 1956 and moved to West Point the next year where Kap joined her father in business at Quality Shoe Store. After finishing studies with the New York School of Interior Design, she opened Hill Top Interiors with her mother in 1969 which she operated until 2012. She was a member of the West Point Merchant Association and the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce. She and her husband owned and operated 559 Market Place and Café 559 in Valley from 2002 until 2012. They were devoted members of Manna Fellowship in West Point, Georgia, and loved serving their God and sharing the love God has for each of us.

     Marianne had a lifelong pursuit of “creating” and until the last few weeks insisted on staying busy. She enjoyed decorating, flower arranging, sewing, cooking, drawing and anything that allowed her to express her creative spirit. Marianne also spent her lifetime writing and from this, published books on her Christian Faith. She loved the Lord, her family, church family, friends and her customers who became like family.

     Marianne was preceded in death by her parents, Vashti and Jimmy Sargent, her daughter, Laura Duncan Beall, husband, Kasper (Kap) Duncan and her sister, Frances Childs. She is survived by her children, Jim (Alane) Duncan, Valley, AL, Robert (MaryDuncan, Chattanooga, TN, son-in-law Julian Beall (Judy), Lanett, AL, Grandchildren Alan (Gayla) Arrington, Todd (Neida) Arrington, Elizabeth (Omar) Masseoud, Janie (Hunter) Vaught, Rebecca (Chris) Matherley, Thomas Beall, Will (Hannah) Duncan, Chris Duncan, Great Grandchildren Lane, Luke, Abbie Grace, and Jack Arrington, David and Nathan Matherley.
