The ASWA released its 2024 baseball All-State teams and several Chambers County schools were represented. 

Valley was the best-represented team in the county. Jackson Sanders led the way for Valley in 5A, being named the 5A Player of the Year and making the first team as a utility player. As a hitter, Sanders posted a .516 batting average to go along with 34 RBIs and four home runs. 

Sanders was best known for his pitching prowess during his senior season. Sanders finished the season with a 1.84 earned run average, 121 strikeouts and a 9-1 record. 

C.J. Chambley also represented Valley as he was selected to the second team as a pitcher. Chambley finished the season with a 1.49 ERA, an 8-1 record and allowed just 1.28 walks and hits per inning pitched. 

Chambley was also one of Valley’s best hitters during his senior season. Chambley finished the season with a .384 batting average to go along with 26 RBIs. 

Several other athletes in Chambers County were represented on the All-State selections, but the rest of the baseball players in the area were selected as honorable mentions. 

Chambers Academy’s Eli Whorton was selected as an honorable mention for the AISA. As a junior, Whorton finished the season with a .351 batting average and 25 RBIs. 

Payton Yerta was also selected as an honorable mention for the AISA for the Rebels. Yerta finished the season with a .324 batting average and 21 RBIs. 

Springwood’s Eli Johnson was the last baseball player in Chambers County mentioned on the All-State selections. Johnson was the Wildcats’ leader in 2024 as a senior. Johnson finished the season with a .333 batting average and 11 RBIs.
