LaGrange, GA – The LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the results of a recent survey conducted among its members regarding internship programs.
The findings reveal a promising landscape for internships within the local business community, with a significant number of businesses showing interest in both establishing and expanding their internship opportunities.
Survey highlights:
- Internship Programs: Approximately 50% of the responding member businesses currently have an internship program.
- Paid Internships: Of those with internship programs, 50% offer paid internships.
- Student Preferences: 48% of the businesses are specifically seeking college students for their internships, while 47% are open to considering either high school or college students.
- Interest in Starting Programs: A notable 68% of businesses without an existing internship program expressed interest in starting one.
- Internship Fair Participation: An overwhelming 85% of the businesses showed interest in participating in an internship fair to help identify potential candidates for their Programs.
In response to these findings, the Chamber, in partnership with LaGrange College, Point University, and West Georgia Technical College, is excited to announce two key events aimed at enhancing internship opportunities and fostering connections between businesses and potential interns.
The first event is the Internship Program Training. The program will be hosted on July 22 at 11:30 a.m. at the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce on 111 Bull Street in downtown LaGrange.
This training session will provide businesses with valuable insights and best practices for establishing and managing successful internship programs. It is an excellent opportunity for businesses to learn how to maximize the benefits of internships for both the company and the interns.
The chamber is also putting on an Intern Fair on August 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the LaGrange Memorial Library on 115 Alford Street in LaGrange.
The Intern Fair will bring together local businesses and prospective interns, facilitating direct interactions and networking opportunities. It will be an ideal platform for businesses to showcase their internship programs and for students to explore potential career paths.
“We are thrilled to see such strong interest in internship programs in our community. Internships play a crucial role in developing a skilled workforce and providing students with practical experience. These upcoming events will not only benefit our local businesses but also provide valuable opportunities for our students,” said Connie Hensler, President of the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce.
More information about the participating businesses and additional details will be shared as we approach the event dates. For more information about the survey results, internship program training, or the Intern Fair, please contact the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce at (706) 884-8671.
