Free picking at the community garden sponsored by West Point First Baptist Church will be each Monday and Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. ET as long as the plants produce. 

The community garden is located across the street from the church at 306 East 8th Street in West Point.

Members of our garden committee invite the public to come out and pick their own fresh squash, zinnias, or beans all season long. 

Members will be available to advise, according to a press release. Signs have been added to describe the less common produce. 

Plant-based diets have been recommended by doctors for years for healthy hearts, according to the press release. Kids are more likely to eat vegetables when they see those vegetables growing and get to pick those vegetables themselves.

The committee urged the public to “come to enjoy the garden; pick and eat what God gave us to keep us healthy.”
