On August 18th, 2024, at 7:25pm, Troopers from Post 2 Lagrange, arrived on scene of vehicle crash involving a BMW motorcycle and a Chevrolet van on I-85 southbound near mile marker 2. The van was traveling in the left lane and experienced a tire blow out on the left rear.

As the van was slowing and attempting to pull to left shoulder, the motorcycle struck the rear of the van.  The driver of the motorcycle suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

A 16-year-old passenger in the van suffered a head injury and was transported by Life Flight.  Interstate 85 southbound was shut down for approximately one hour.
