The Chambers County Commission approved the fiscal year 2025 budget and several budget revisions during its meeting on Monday.
The total revenue for the budget was $42,442,039 and the total expenditures were $41,333,698. The budget also included a 3% COLA (Cost of Living Adjustment) for the employee salaries this year. The COLA goes into effect on October 6, 2024.
Throughout the meeting, the commission approved several motions on budget revisions, the first being a revision to the Road and Bridge Fund of $32,500. This will be to make the first payment to JMR+H for professional services for the county.
The commission also approved the FY25 Long Term Detention Subsidy Contract designating Lee County Development Center as the detention center chosen by the county.
Lastly, the commission approved the recommendation from JMR+H to award the reroofing project at the county jail to Standard Roofing of Montgomery Inc. They also authorized them to execute the contract documents.
The county received four bids earlier this month. Standard Roofing of Montgomery, the low bid, was $409,620. The high bid came from Central Alabama Metal and Roofing at around $587,500.
“We got a really good price,” Harvill said. “Something needs to be done really quickly.”
