Funeral services for Hershel Lamar Lashley, age 85, of Lafayette will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Lafayette with Bro. James Caulfield officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00-2:00 PM on Wednesday before services begin.

Mr. Lashley passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, at his residence.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Bobbie Dean Sims Lashley of Lafayette; one daughter, Carolyn Cole (Matthew) of Lafayette; one son, Chris Lashley (Heather) of Lafayette; one grandchild, Wyatt Lamar Lashley; and two step-grandchildren, C.J. Wiggins and Cailin Laney.

Pallbearers will be Rock Springs Baptist Church Deacons.  Wyatt Lamar Lashley will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

A Chambers County native, Mr. Lashley was born on November 27, 1938, the son of Roy L. and Minnie Lee Cotney Lashley.  He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Mr. Lashley loved farming and cutting hay and was a chicken and cow farmer. Mr. Lashley worked as a scale operator for East Alabama Lumber Company, as a truck driver for Chevron Gas Company and Blossman Gas, and was a night watchman at McClendon Trucking.  He loved his family and the outdoors, especially bird hunting and was an avid Atlanta Braves and Alabama Crimson Tide.  Mr. Lashley was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leroy Lashley.

Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to Rock Springs Baptist Church at 2408 County Road 62, Lafayette, AL 36862.
