The Valley Local is hosting a singer-songwriter festival on Saturday, Aug. 17 at the city of Valley Amphitheater. There will be ten local musicians performing as well as food trucks, Darios Kitchen and Mr. Frosty’s. Gates open at 12 and the event will go from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET.
Tickets will cost $10, however kids ages 10 and under will get in free. One of the founders of the Valley Local and an organizer of the event, Sara Crutchfield, said the charge in admission is to allow the organization to continue to put on events like the festival.
“The proceeds from this event will go towards the hosting of another event, along with like Valley Fest, so that we’re not having to depend on sponsorships,” Crutchfield said.
Clear bags only are allowed at the event. Parking is free at the Valley Sportsplex. Crutchfield suggests bringing a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the show.
The group has been busy this year, putting on the first annual Valley Fest, bingo nights at Oaks Farm and more. There is no slowing down, Crutchfield said they are already planning more bingo nights and an event in Lanett’s downtown square for sometime next month.
The artists include Ryan Meadows, Clayton Tooker, Andrew White, Mack Ray Keaton, Clay Amason, Caylee Fucci and Kris Dewberry. There will also be an open mic portion where musicians will play 10-15 minute sets. The open mic will feature Jayden Berry, Daniel White and Chris Gagnon.
“It is to give an opportunity for local musicians, acoustic musicians in our area to come out and show their talent, while the community enjoys food…just a day for the community to get out and have fun and enjoy some live acoustic,” Crutchfield said.
