This year, Labor Day falls on September 2, and while many businesses will remain open, most federal offices will be closed in observance of the holiday. For those who aren’t taking advantage of the last blast of summer for a vacation, the following are closures around the greater Valley area for next Monday.
The U.S. Postal Service does not deliver on federal holidays so expect mail to be late next week. However, some chain grocery stores stay open. The Walmart in Valley will be open on Monday but the pharmacy may have special holiday hours.
Kroger in Lanett and Givorn’s grocery store in Valley will also be open.
All Chambers County School District schools will closed for Labor Day. For those looking for somewhere to take the kids on Monday, West Point Lake is open for the long weekend.
Valley Community Center will also be open on Monday but with holiday hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET. The pool will be open to children from 12 to 2 p.m. while the adult swim hours will be from 10 a.m. to 12. P.m.
Those looking to finish up business at the Chambers County Courthouse or the Annex in Lanett should stop by sometime tomorrow because all offices will be closed on Monday. Lanett City Hall and Valley City Hall will be closed as well. Friday will be a shorter day for Valley City Hall as they will close at 3 p.m. ET to get a headstart on the holiday weekend.
Most banking will also be closed on Monday. Luckily, many banks including SouthState Bank in Valley have a 24-hour drive-thru ATM.
