A rain or shine car show will be bringing families out to Springwood School on Saturday hosted by Wildcats Athletic Association (WAA).
This is the first car show that WAA has hosted. It will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET at the school during which spectators are encouraged to come out and enjoy the sights for free. To escape the heat, food trucks including Big Mama’s Ice Cream, Sparkles Cookies and Duaro’s will be parked at the school.
More booths will be set up in the Springwood Gym for a Vendor’s Market. There will be a 50/50 raffle. Springwood PTO will have a booth set up with attractions for the younger kids while parents enjoy the car show.
Proceeds from the car show will fund WAA’s projects for the Wildcat players. WAA has helped support all of Springwood’s teams, from purchasing new jerseys to revamping lockers and concession stands. According to WAA member Tiffany Lowery, the idea came about thanks to some Springwood parents who participated in car shows.
“We wanted to be able to do something more of a community, not just a select group in the school,” Lowery said. “We were trying to reach far and wide and include everyone.”
Lowery said WAA has not yet announced its main project for the year. The group had planned to help fund air for the gym but a donation from the Callaway Foundation has fulfilled that fundraising goal.
Registration starts at 9 and ends at 11 a.m. on the day. Early registration fee is $25.
The awards will be announced at 1 p.m. for those registered in the car show.
The awards that will be announced are Top 20, People’s Choice, Best of Show, Best Paint, Best Interior, Best Engine and Athletic Director’s Choice.
