The Valley Police Department is closely monitoring the situation concerning the imminent arrival of Hurricane Helene. Models predict that, in addition to heavy rain, we will start to see high winds at approximately 8:00 pm tonight and continue through the morning hours on Friday the 27. In response to this threat, we will have extra officers on the road for the duration of this event. Their duties will include responding to life-threatening situations, blocking impassable roads, and assisting Public Works crews. We ask that, unless extremely necessary, everyone please shelter in place and stay off the roads until the threat has passed. Please call 911 for any emergencies that threaten life or limb. All other non-emergency calls should be called into 334-756-5200.
Should you need shelter, please call the local Red Cross at 334-260-3980. To report power outages, please call Alabama Power at 800-245-2244.
