The Rebels have had another dominant season on the record books.
This Friday they look to add another region championship title to their names, as they face Banks Academy. This would be the ninth year in a row Chambers would claim the top of the table and continue the dynasty under head coach Jason Allen.
The game also serves as a rematch of last season’s state championship game when Chambers beat Banks 41-14 in Troy.
Banks have had a sophomore slump coming off of a stellar 11-2 year, a team record for wins, last season. This year, the Jets have fallen to 3-3 on the season and 2-1 in region play.
The Jets are a relatively new program, only fielding a varsity squad for five seasons. Chamber has not lost to the team yet. However, the meteoric rise of Jets should not be taken for granted.
The Rebels are coming off of a bye week. The previous Friday they put on a defensive clinic shutting Evangel Christian out 39-0.
The blue and white had five turnovers on the night, including a pick-six by Colton Fuller and a forced fumble recovery by Luke Tarver. Both Fuller and Tarver had nine tackles on the night.
The offense proved effective but struggled some early in the game. They are still trying to diversify the game. Currently, Chambers is a run-heavy squad, with quarterback Landon Hand showing skill with his leg. Against Evangel Hand threw for two completions for a total of 27 yards. Conversely, he had six carries for 55 yards.
Tarver continues to prove himself invaluable on both sides of the ball, making tackles and putting points on the board. He put up two of Chambers’ offensive touchdowns against Evangel and had a five-touchdown game against Morgan Academy.
Allen said in a statement that the kicking game has also improved. The Rebels struggled with giving up easy turnovers and penalties, which has been tightened up.
Going into the final games of the 2024 season, Allen wants to, “Concentrate on ourselves…Hopefully, we can get back to the fundamentals of our system and get better.”
The Rebels kick off at 7 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT against Banks at home on Friday. A livestream of games can be found on the Chambers Athletics YouTube page.
