Gimme Some Sugar closes, relocation in the works

Gimme Some Sugar & Coffee, the LaFayette cafe and marketplace, has closed its doors. The popular downtown restaurant announced via social media that they were closing at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.

The post reads, “ Due to building maintenance issues & some exciting news coming we decided it was best to close to concentrate on our NEW.”

Michael Foster, co-owner of the business, confirmed that they are in the process of relocating. He made it clear that LaFayette is hard to leave, and he hopes it won’t be long before the store returns in one form or another.

“We were thankful for the time that we had there, and we love small town Lafayette,” Foster added, saying that they hope to be back in LaFayette “in the near future.”

Foster said more announcements about future plans would be in the next week or so.

LaFayette Mainstreet, the local organization that promotes downtown businesses, put out a statement shortly after.

“[Gimme Some Sugar] have asked us to share with you that they’ve made the decision to relocate and further details will be shared. They send their thanks to all the community who have supported them. LaFayette Main Street is wishing Micheal and Holly all the best in their next chapter,” it stated.

The coffee spot/shop held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in May of this year to celebrate the new owners, Michael and his wife Hollie Foster. The business had been started in 2020 by Justin and Jennifer Graves who operated it, until the Fosters took it over.
