On October 16, 2024, the Valley Police Department were notified of possible human remains found in the woods at the end of Mill Street near the former Riverdale Mill complex in Riverview area.

Officers responding found what appeared to be human bones to include a skull at the indicated location. Valley Investigators cordoned off the area.

Due to the condition of the remains, a call for assistance was made to the Department of Forensic Sciences and they responded with a crime scene unit along with a forensic anthropologist. At this point of the investigation the sex of the victim is unknown, and a cause of death has not been determined. Recovery and processing are still ongoing, and more information will be furnished at a later date.
