Roanoke woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash

ALEX CITY POST – A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, has claimed the life of a Roanoke woman. Martha G. Williams, 80, was critically injured when the 2011 Nissan Rouge she was driving was struck in the rear by the 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup driven by Michael R. Burke, 26, of Roanoke. Williams was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and transported to Piedmont Regional Hospital in Columbus, Ga., where she succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased. Burke was also injured and transported to Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Ga., for treatment.
The crash occurred on U.S. 431 near the 177 mile marker, approximately two miles south of Roanoke, in Chambers County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
