VALLEY — The Valley City Council has approved a mayor’s proclamation in support of the fifth annual Unite Valley Day, which will be taking place this coming Saturday near the Langdale Mill site.

The first Unite Valley Day took place in 2020. The idea originated with members of the Revenant Worship Center in the River View community. Its purpose was for members of different church congregations to have an interdenominational event promoting community unity by celebrating together in a spirit of faith, worship, prayer and fellowship.

Unite Valley Day is a free event. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the day in the heart of Langdale. It will be getting under way at 6 p.m. EDT on Saturday, October 19th. There will be display booths, children’s activities with games, face painting and inflatables. Staff with a variety of volunteers from area churches will be there to assist anyone who desires to have prayer. There will be lots of free snacks, games and giveaways until the main event starts at 7:45 p.m.

Unity Day is centered around having local city, county and state officials to come together with the public laying aside all traditional denominational or political differences that divide people. It’s a day for everyone to come together in the true spirit of worship, praise, prayer and fellowship.

“Now, therefore, I, Leonard Riley, mayor of the City of Valley joined by members of the city council,” the proclamation reads, “do hereby recognize Saturday, October 19th as Unite Valley Day and extend an invitation to all people in the Greater Valley Area to come out and support this worthy cause.”
