Dr. Vickie Jo Howell-Sims

July 14, 1957- September 8, 2024 

Dr. Vickie Jo Howell-Sims, DMD (Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry) formerly of Lanett, AL  departed this life on September 8  at her home in Center Point, AL. She was 67 years of age and the youngest of 8 children of Mrs. Maudie Reynolds Howell Taylor and the late Mr. Willie Burpee Howell of Lanett, AL. Vickie graduated with academic honors from the Lanett High School class of 1975. She received a BS degree with honors (1979) and a DMD degree (1984) from the University of Alabama Birmingham and went on to practice dentistry in Gadsden, AL from 1984-87. Vickie was married to Mr. Cedric Sims for 40 years and the couple has 4 surviving children. Dr. Howell-Sims was preceded in death by her father, Willie B. Howell and a brother, Larry Howell. She is survived by her children, Shawn, James, Ashley and Angela Sims; her mother, Mrs. Maudie Howell Taylor of Lanett;  an aunt Mrs. Sallie R. Mott of Lafayette, AL; an uncle, Rev. Reginald Wright, Lanett); 4 sisters, Margie Amukunee, Atlanta, GA;. Shirley A. Blakely (Allison), Silver Spring, MD; Lucille Barnes, Atlanta, GA; and  Jessica Turner (Emerson), Mesa, AZ), 2 brothers, Will B. Howell, Hoover, AL; and Charles D. Howell (Gail), Ellicott City, MD), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.. A memorial service for Vickie will be held at 12 PM EST on Friday Nov. 30, 2024 at the Bowen East District Building, 1319 Magnolia  Road, Lanett, AL, 36863 (West Shawmut community).
