The community is encouraged to come out to support several Valley students at this year’s Farm-City Awards Reception will be held on Nov. 19, 2024 at 10 a.m. CST.
The event is open to the county contest winner, their families, teachers, principals and superintendents. Students will receive their prize money and ribbon at this reception.
“We want to thank all the schools and teachers who encouraged their students to participate in the contest,” said Rachel Snoddy, Chambers County Extension Office Coordinator.
Farm-City, sponsored by Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA Farmers), is a program that offers education, outreach and promotion in order to highlight the relationship between rural farmers and urban workers and how the two industries work hand in hand to better people’s lives.
ALFA Farmers is Alabama’s largest farm organization representing around 350,000 members. With almost 70 independent county federations, Alfa Farmers serves the local agricultural industry.
“Grocers, truck drivers, factory workers, computer scientists, bankers, veterinarians, chemists, salesmen, and numerous others all play important roles in getting food from fields to kitchen tables,” reads the ALFA website.
