The Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its fifth annual Rockingfest on the Square, home of the “World’s Largest Rocking Horse” attraction, in downtown LaFayette on November 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET.

In its fifth year, the local tradition has continued to expand and is still going strong. This year, 10 food vendors and around 80 arts and crafts vendors will be in attendance.

“We have started this new wonderful tradition within our community, and we want to make sure everyone gets the opportunity to come out and see the world’s largest rocking horse,” said Carrie Wood, GVACC director. “He’s special and you can only see him in the state of Alabama.”

Each iteration of the event has introduced a new attraction. The new addition to the event this year will be the “World’s Largest Gingerbread jumper.”

The bounce house will be in good company with the Everest Climb N Slide, mobile Ice Skating Rink and Toboggan Tunnel.

In past years, the event has seen crowds as large as 2,000 people from all around the state. Other “World’s Largest” attractions included Snow-zilla Sr., the world’s largest slide, and a bounce house, the world’s largest snowman.

Wood suggested that families take a break from festivities at one of the local businesses.

“While you’re in town, be sure to check out our local businesses downtown. They will be ready to serve you,” Wood said.

At some point throughout the day, Santa Claus and his helpers will make an appearance to get photos with children.

From Polish sausage to deep fried Oreos, there will be plenty of food, crafts and fun activities for family and friends around the LaFayette square.

“We want to make sure that everyone knows this event is free. We have our sponsors to thank for that,” Wood said. “Without our sponsors, this event would not be possible.”
