A tradition steeped in local history, the Pancake Breakfast Day, is being reborn thanks to The Valley Local. In honor of Valley Kiwanis Club, the community is invited to come out and enjoy breakfast together from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. EST on Friday, February 28.

Sara Crutchfield, founder of The Valley Local, sent a statement to the Valley Times-News, saying, “This is an event we have missed so much in our community! We reached out to the Valley Kiwanis Club and they were so excited that we wanted to bring this event back to our community.”

Pancake Day is a day that was once considered a holiday for the community in Chambers County. This event was hosted each year at Langdale Gym and was started in 1960 by the Valley Kiwanis Club, according to Crutchfield. This will be the first year that event has been put on since 2017.

Due to dwindling membership over the years, the Kiwanis Club had limited help serving the number of people who attended.

Many Kiwanis Club members will be helping make this event possible in many ways including cooking on Friday, Feb 28. With the help of Laurie Blount, Valley Rec. Director, this event will be held at the City of Valley Community Center.

Crutchfield invites everyone to join them for pancakes and sausage. They will accept delivery orders for 10 or more orders.

All tickets can be purchased on The Valley Local website at www.thevalleylocal.org or the day of the event.

Adult plates are $10.00 and children plates are $5.00. Adult plates get four pancakes and two sausages with a drink, while kids get two pancakes and one sausage with a drink.

Hometown Coffee will be at this event serving coffee for anyone who would like to purchase coffee.
