EDITOR’S NOTE: The Valley Times-News is doing a Q&A with all of the support staff of the year in the Chambers County School System. Today, we are writing about Craig Agee, the 9th and 10th grade History teacher at LaFayette High School. We asked him 20 questions, and we included some of our favorite responses below.

Craig Agee has only been at LaFayett High School for a year, however, his value was immediately recognized by his peers. The 9th and 10th grade history teacher was named LHS teacher of the year.

Agee has been in education for six years, coaching college football before moving into the classroom. Agee is married to Megan Agee, who teaches P.E. at Eastside J.P. Powell. He is the father to four kids, a college grade, two high schoolers and a seventh graders.

I divided the class into two groups [and] gave each group facts and fiction. From there, they would act out the [prompts]. The others decided which is fact and which is fiction.”

What did it mean to you to be named your school’s support staff of the year?

“It meant a lot. I took it as the students and my coworkers respect and value my hard work to get their votes. It’s truly an honor.

On a weekend or a summer day when school is out, what are your favorite activities?

“I am usually at a track, softball field or weight room. I am watching my kids play, perform or train them or other athletes.

What is a common misconception about your job?

“Always understand that there is a consequence for every action. Be careful and think before you take action.”
