All of Central Alabama should prepare for winter impacts beginning midnight Thursday (possibly earlier) through most of the day Friday, according to a release from Chambers County EMA. By daybreak Friday, all of central AL will be affected including East Central AL.
The types of precipation discussed are rain changing to sleet / freezing rain and snow.
The line for limited impact and elevated impact are transition lines and anyone near the lines should prepare for some type of winter impacts.
A note from National Weather Service of Birmingham stated not to focus on the amounts of what (snow, sleet, freezing rain, etc.) but to focus on the map transition lines. All of those areas (and areas near) will receive winter weather precipitation. And those transition lines are likely to move – elevated may be moved further south, etc.
An Advisory will likely be issued as we are closer to the event, if not a winter storm warning. (An advisory is an upgrade from a watch).
Another webinar will be held tomorrow. More detailed graphics will be sent later this afternoon once we receive them from Birmingham.
