EMA says multiple cars stuck on roads, advises against Wednesday travel

In light of the special weather statement. I want to add that there are numerous vehicles with people in them stuck on 85 and 280 and most have been there since 330 pm. And numerous vehicles have been left where they were stuck. As a reminder, the Travel Advisory remains in effect until further notice. The County Engineer and his crew and the Sheriff and his deputies will assess roads in the morning. At some point the Highway department will begin sanding some of the main county roads. We do not yet know if ALDOT will be doing the same with state roads.
If it is not an absolute necessity, please do not attempt to drive in the morning. Temps may hover just above freezing by mid day and we may possibly see an ever so slight improvement but overall, expect continued travel issues through Thursday about noon.
Sub-freezing temperatures across Central Alabama tonight will allow for the possibility of hazardous travel conditions across portions of the area that had snow. Snow was generally noted along and southeast of a line from Selma to Clanton to Wedowee. The greatest amounts were noted and thus the greatest overnight
impacts are expected along and southeast of Interstate 85. Slick driving conditions may occur on roads, bridges, and overpasses as the temperatures will not likely go above freezing until midday on Wednesday. Please use extra caution if you have to travel.
