Keturah Ann Birchfield Ogletree was born in Langdale, Alabama, on December 22nd, 1953, to Mrs. Margaret King Birchfield and William Howard Birchfield.  She passed from this life to be with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior on January 10, 2025, at the age of 71 at Sacred Ground Hospice House in Fountain City/Knoxville Tennessee.

Keturah loved to travel, and she dearly loved the Lord and visits from her family and friends.  She often told stories of traveling and living in different places such as Alaska, California, and Texas.  Keturah was an amazing cook, she loved reading and watching old TV shows and movies.  Some of her favorites were Secondhand Lions, It’s a Wonderful Life, and The Geisha Boy with Jerry Lewis.

Keturah obtained her GED from Hallie Turner Private School and went on to attend Opelika Technical School.  Keturah was an avid lover of animals which eventually led her into the grooming business.  Keturah had a pet grooming business for many years.  Keturah had such a gift with animals…she even fostered several wild animals over the years and even had a pet pot-bellied pig named Arnold.

Keturah was called away to be with Jesu leaving her loving siblings, Delores Birchfield Coxwell and Tori Birchfield Williams (Edwin Williams).  She also leaves behind a niece, Cam Coxwell Shiflett (Glenn Shiflett) and two nephews, Spencer Kirk and Stephen J. Stewart Jr.

Keturah was preceded in death by her mother and father, Margaret King Birchfield and her father, William Howard Birchfield, Grandmothers Mattie Lou Johnson and Georgia Lucinda King.

Keturah’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith and love for her Lord and Savior.

As we bid farewell to Keturah, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that will be treasured forever. We will remember her spirit, sense of humor, and her memory will be a source of comfort and strength. Keturah’s family takes solace in knowing that she is now at peace, reunited with her mother and father and loved ones who have gone before her.

Keturah’s life will be honored in a private service, surrounded by those who loved her most. Her story of love, faith, and family will be cherished and passed down through generations, ensuring that her remarkable spirit will never be forgotten.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Sacred Ground Hospice House.  The staff was extremely supportive and caring during Keturah’s journey home.

Surrounded by Your Glory, what will my heart feel?

Will I dance for You, Jesus, Or in awe of You be still?

Will I stand in Your presence, Or to my knees will I fall?

Will I sing hallelujah?  Will I be able to speak at all?

I can only imagine; I can only imagine – Chorus from “I Can Only Imagine” by MercyMe

John 11:25-26 “Jesus said to her; “I am the resurrection and the life.  Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.”
