Postseason basketball is upon us. Lanett played host to the area tournament which, along with the home team, included LaFayette, Loachapoka and Reeltown.
The LaFayette boys cleared its first hurdle, beating Loachapoka 56-26.
Both teams went toe-to-toe in the first quarter. Both sides played team offense, with multiple players getting on the scorebook. Loachapoka had luck from the outside, while LaFayette focused on making drives. The Bulldogs had a great night from the line going 14 for 20. Cameron Thomas put up three free throws, seven on the night, and a bucket to lead LaFayette to a slim 12-11 lead going into the second.
The Bulldogs had their quietest quarter of the night, scoring 10. However, the defense took care of business only allowing six points. They would continue their domination the rest of the night, holding the Indians to 9 points in the second half of the game.
The Bulldog offense came back online in the second half. The third saw more runs inside, taking smart fouls to chisel more of a lead. The team shared the scoring, but it was Jordan Johnson who walked away with 15 points in the half.
The fourth was much of the same. LaFayette held Loachapoka to just four points in the final frame, while having the most productive inning of the night, scoring 18 points.
Johnson was the top scorer for the Bulldogs with 20 points on Friday night. Kemare Harrington put up double digits with 10 points. He was followed closely by Thomas who scored nine points. All-in-all seven Bulldogs contributed to the area win.
