Lanett won handily against the Bulldogs, 58-15. The LaFayette girls continue to search for a win this season.
LaFayette scored four points in the first half, having no answer to Lanetts defense and struggling with turnovers. The Panther’s offense put the game to bed early, with 35 points in the first half.
The Bulldogs seemed to wake up, however in the third quarter. They scored 11 points, and while not enough to mount a comeback, Lafayette looked like a competitor.
However, in the fourth quarter, mistakes plagued the offense. Clutch steals from the Panthers stopped LaFayette from scoring a single point in the final frame.
Lanett’s offense slowed a bit in the second half, putting up 23 points, however, the defense masterclass in the fourth and the hot start allowed them to cruise to a W, winning 58-15.
Lanett begins area play 1-0 and LaFayette 0-1. They will have a rematch again on Jan.17 in Lanett.
Hope McClare was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs with six points on the night. Daisha Holloway, Skype Boston, Nicki Upshaw and Deasha Avery all got on the board.
Jaylin White was phenomenal, scoring 17 points against the Bulldogs. Makenley James had nine points in the final frame. MaKiah White followed closely with eight points.
