From Beulah Fire Department:
On Wednesday morning, the BFD C-Shift was dispatched to the 200 block of Lee Road 2150 following reports of a brush fire. The caller indicated that a woods fire was burning behind their home on adjacent property.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed a single-wide mobile home with fire visible on the alpha/bravo sides. The incident was upgraded to a working structure fire, prompting the dispatch of automatic aid units to assist at the scene.
Firefighters promptly deployed two 1 3/4″ attack lines to combat the blaze. Shortly after their arrival, it was determined the homeowner was unaccounted for, despite a vehicle being present in the driveway, which led to an upgrade of the incident to potential parties trapped.
Firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack, facing extreme heat and zero visibility conditions. Tragically, during the primary search of the residence, they discovered two deceased individuals within the structure.
The Beulah Fire Department extends its heartfelt condolences to the families affected by this tragic incident. The Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Investigations are investigating the matter.
The Beulah Fire Department deployed four apparatus and ten personnel, remaining on the scene for five hours before returning to service. Salem Volunteer Fire Department, Plainview Volunteer Fire Department, East Alabama EMS LLC, Lee County, Alabama Emergency Management Agency, and Lee County Sheriff’s Office Alabama also responded to the scene for assistance.
