Mrs. Fannie Mae Barber

Ms. Fannie Mae Barber, 79, of West Point, passed on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, at Columbus Hospice in Columbus.  Ms. Barber was born August 24, 1934, in Harris County.

Fannie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life and was baptized at the Nebo Baptist Church.  She attended school in Harris County and graduated from Carver High School.

Fannie returned home after years away to become the caregiver for her parents before their demise.

She was preceded in death by her son, Felton Barber; her parents, Marvin Lewis and Lurlene Barber; three brothers, Bobby Joe Barber, Billy James Barber and Arthur (Sonny) Barber.

Fannie leaves behind her brother, Johnnie (Mattie) Barber of Chicago; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A homegoing service for Ms. Barber will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, at noon ET from the sanctuary of the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, West Point with the Rev. Willie James Barber, II, serving as the eulogist, the Rev. Alton Barber and Dr. Lamar Johnson, assisting. Interment will follow in the Pinehill Cemetery in Lanett.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, at the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church from 11 a.m. ET until the funeral hour.
