VALLEY — The Valley boys (1-2) and girls (1-2) tennis teams both lost to LAMP on Thursday afternoon at the Valley Sportsplex. The boys lost 9-0 and the girls fell 7-2.
“I thought today went really well, especially with the girls,” Valley head tennis coach Mark Stuart said. “LAMP is a really tough school, so I was very happy with how they played.”
Seniors Devin McGlon and Kat Dewberry were to only two victories in singles for Valley. McGlon won 8-6 against Teri Kim and Dewberrry won 8-6 against Jennifer Kim.
“They did well. They played consistently,” Stuart said. “Especially No. 1 and No. 2 singles girls. I was just proud of them.”
The Rams return home next Thursday to host Smiths Station. Heading into this week, Smiths Station boys were 2-0 and the girls were 1-1.
“Improvement wise, [we] can be more consistent,” Stuart said. “Getting more first serves in, more volleys in, working on our doubles and our net game for that.”
