VALLEY — Debra Riley has announced her candidacy for the District 6 seat on the Chambers County Commission that’s being vacated by three-term incumbent Debbie Wood, who is not seeking reelection if favor of running for a seat in the Alabama House of Representatives. Wood is running for the seat being vacated by Isaac Whorton, who is running for circuit judge.

“It is with great excitement that I announce my candidacy for Chambers County Commissioner District 6,” said Mrs. Riley. “This is not a decision that has been made lightly. I have considered this for a number of years and now feel ready to make the kind of commitment our citizens deserve. Together we can continue to build a positive growth environment for our community and our county. I ask for your support in allowing me to work as your District Six Commissioner.”

Mrs. Riley has degrees from Southern Union State Community College, Auburn University and Troy State University. Those degrees are in education, administration, emergency medicine and nursing.

“I consider myself fortunate to have been born and raised in Chambers County,” she said. “I have spent my entire life in a service-type capacity, impacting the children and adults of Chambers County. I enter this race giving you my personal commitment that I will work hard for you to help Chambers County continue to grow and develop. As we face an important time in the future development of Chambers County I ask again for the opportunity to serve you as your District 6 County Commissioner. I have been involved in politics for many years and I am ready to lead with honesty, integrity and a commitment to the people of Chambers County and District 6.”
