Point gives back through annual impact day

Point University held its annual Impact Day on Friday, as students spent the good part of a day cleaning up parts of the Roper Heights neighborhood.
There were lawnmowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, rakes and plenty of other lawn tools. A total of 250 Point students participated in the cleanup, along with 10 Hyundai Dymos employees and other members of the Point faculty and staff.
Students organized into 26 teams, with nine or ten people on each team.
They quickly got to work, cleaning up yards and doing their part to make West Point a cleaner, nicer place to live.
The rest of us could probably learn from their actions.
These students spent part of a Friday morning cleaning up a neighborhood in West Point. We’re sure they could’ve been doing something else, even if it wasn’t studying or going to class. The Impact Day is a reminder of Point’s commitment to this community, one it moved to seven years ago but has already become an integral part of.
What if we all took the same pride in our community and spent a few minutes cleaning up a neighborhood from time to time? If these students can do it, anyone can do it.
We appreciate Point and the students who volunteered. Their actions also provide an example for the rest of us to learn from.
