A Valley woman was killed Thursday afternoon after being struck by a falling tree limb, according to the Valley Police Department.

Erendira Castillo Hernandez, 31, was found being held by her husband Robert Perez when first responders arrived at the 100 block of Church Street.

The East Alabama Fire Department EMS began treating Hernandez and officers with the Valley Police Department spoke to Perez about what happened. He told police he and his wife were getting into their vehicle with their three children to leave the residence when a large limb fell from the tree above them, striking Hernandez in the head and upper body.

Police say Garcia was transported to the East Alabama Medical Center Lanier in Valley, where she was pronounced dead due to her injuries.
