Ms. Martha Ellen Bennett, 72, of West Point, passed away at her residence on June 19.

Bennett was born in Langdale on Sept. 30, 1946, to the late Leon and Jewel Gordon. Bennett graduated from Nursing school with an LPN degree on June 18, 1965. She retired from LaFayette Extended Care in 2011.

Bennett loved cooking and Alabama football. She always had a cake in the freezer for anyone that was in need.

Bennett is survived by her daughter, Angela M Bennett, of West Point, and daughter in law Tracy Wynn of West Point; sister Mary Nell Brown, of Roanoke, and Janice (Mack) Bradley, of Lanett; and also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Myrtle Edwards, Laura Mae Knight; brothers Wendell Gordon, Eulice Gordon and Mather Gordon.

The family will greet friends for visitation on June 20, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. EDT. at Bluffton Funeral Services in Lanett.

Funeral Services will be held at Roper Heights Baptist Church in West Point on June 21 at 2 p.m. EDT. Graveside Service will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Lanett.

The Rev. Eddie Striblin will officiate.
