Dr. Conrado E. Fernandez — 1936-2019

Dr. Conrado E. Fernandez, 82, of West Point, passed away on July 21 at his residence. Fernandez was born on Dec. 2, 1936, in Manilla, Philippines, to the late Arturo and Mercedes Escano Fernandez.

Fernandez is survived by his wife Maria Sison; his five children, Daisy L. Stickler, and her husband Matthias, Conrad L. Fernandez Jr., and his wife Sarah, Arnel L. Fernandez, and his wife Jennifer, Gilbert L. Fernandez, and his wife Sandra, Dennis L. Fernandez, and his wife Nancy; nine grandchildren Dennis, Ann Marie, David, Dylan, Shelby, Kim, Chelsey, Kayla and Kristine.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Myrna Fernandez (Layson) in 1987.

Fernandez began his practice in Pediatrics in 1975 in Valley. He also worked as a physician at Auburn University’s Student Infirmary, EAMC Lanier Hospital emergency room and George Lanier Nursing Home. He worked with Dr. Arvind Kamath for more than 10 years.

Fernandez loved watching movies along with his other favorite pastimes including gardening, traveling, fishing, photography and building doll houses.

A rosary will be held at Bluffton Funeral Services in Lanett on July 26 at 5 p.m. EDT followed by a visitation at Bluffton Funeral Services Starting at 6 p.m. EDT until 8 p.m. EDT.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lanett on July 27 at 8 a.m. EDT. Graveside service will follow the funeral service at Marseilles Cemetery in West Point. A reception will follow the graveside service at 11 a.m. EDT at Holy Family Catholic Church.
