Mr. Phillip Wayne Buchanan — 1949-2019

Mr. Phillip Wayne Buchanan, Sr., 70, of Huguley, passed away on July 30 at his residence. He was born on June 15, 1949, in Langdale.

Mr. Buchanan is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debbie Buchanan; his two daughters, Natalie (John Jr.) Eldridge and Della (John Sr.) Cheeney, both of Valley; his sister, Paulette “Polly” (Ray) Rogers, of Cusseta; his brother, Monroe “Terry” (Debbie) Wasson of Lanett; his grandchildren, Phillip Wayne Buchanan, III, Blythe Elizabeth Buchanan, Ethan James Buchanan, Connor Jacob Buchanan, Jax Buchanan Cheeney, John Warren (Danielle) Cheeney, Jr., and Justin James (Samantha) Cheeney; his five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Wayne Buchanan, Jr.; and his sister, Barbara Ann Messer.

Mr. Buchanan was a faithful member of Davidson Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.  He was a Godly man and a great servant who loved to take his children and grandchildren to church and to spend as much time with them as possible. He was a former employee of Uniroyal with over 37 years of service to the company and a fan of the University of Alabama.

 Services will be held on Aug. 1 at 1 p.m. EDT at the Davidson Baptist Church. Pastor Howard Longshore and Pastor John W. Eldridge, Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. EDT at the Davidson Baptist Church. A private family graveside will be held at a later date.
