LaFAYETTE — Auburn-Opelika Dental opened a new office in LaFayette in August, replacing the longtime dental office of Dr. Donald Busby.
On Wednesday, the new dental office was welcomed to the community by the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon-cutting.
Dr. Abigail Adams said the business has been operating in Opelika for the past two years with herself and Dr. Jadee Dellis. However, she said she’d had an interest in Busby’s office for a few years.
“When Dr. Busby was still looking for somebody to buy his practice, this was such a great office and a great community, I couldn’t resist,” she said. “Dr. Busby has been a mentor of mine for a long time, so I am honored to work in this building.”
Adams purchased the practice in July and Busby worked in the office until his retirement Aug. 13. Adams said Busby invited all his patients to stay on with Opelika-Auburn Dental, and she said the practice wanted to keep them. She said the practice is also accepting new patients.
Adams said the business will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Thursday. It will also be open one Friday a month, usually the second Friday, Adams said, from 8 a.m. to noon.
Since the purchase of the practice, Adams said the community has been warm, but there are always a few kinks to work through.
“Anytime you have something new, you have things you have to work out and get patients used to the way we do things that is different from before,” she said. “But everybody has been really accepting and excited about it.”
Auburn-Opelika Dental is located at 134 1st Street SE in LaFayette. To reach the dental office, call (334) 864-8808.
