Mr. Dylan Lowe McClendon — 1990-2019

Dylan Lowe McClendon, of Atlanta, passed away on Sept. 10. He was born on Sept. 17, 1990, in Columbus, and grew up in LaFayette. He was a member of First Baptist Church of LaFayette. He attended Springwood School in Lanett. 

During high school, he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. His passion was baseball as a centerfielder. He continued his love for the game as a volunteer coach for a summer baseball league at Saint Pius Catholic High School. 

Dylan loved the outdoors and he especially loved to fish and hunt. He was an avid sports fan and a diehard Auburn football fan. 

After completing his studies at Georgia Perimeter College, he attended the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing at Mercer University. 

After moving to Atlanta, he attended Passion City Church and was involved with its ministries. 

Dylan was a friend to many, he was a stranger to no one and loved by everyone. 

His contagious smile, energy and humor were felt by all who knew him. 

Dylan is survived by his mother, Shelly Kyle, of Atlanta; his father, James McClendon, of Atlanta; maternal grandparents, Gail and Toppy Van, of Greensboro, Georgia; maternal aunt, Dedra Grizzard O’Connor, of Atlanta; his paternal aunt and uncle, Lisa and Hugh McClendon, of Auburn. 

To share memories and celebrate Dylan’s life on Sept. 17, the family will have a private memorial service and then greet friends from 2. until 4 p.m. CDT at the Welcome Center of the First Baptist Church in LaFayette, 201 LaFayette St South. 

At a future date to be announced, the family will also have a celebration gathering in Atlanta.
