WEST POINT — It was a successful day as several people showed up at Johnny’s Pizza in support of West Point Elementary School.
The downtown pizzeria held a Spirit Day Monday, donating 10 percent of the total day’s sales to the school. This included call-ins, online orders, caterings and dine-ins.
“Everything went well,” said Ben Hamilton, manager of the popular business. “It got real busy.”
While no concrete numbers on how much was actually raised, Hamilton noted it was a “good” amount.
Hamilton also noted that out of all the orders, the most popular were dine- and call-ins. Also popular was the special of the day, a large, 16-inch, 1-topping pizza for $9.99.
“We also had almost 50 kids that signed up for homework passes,” he said with a laugh, noting the passes were given to any child that dined-in.
The Spirit Day, according to Hamilton, is something Johnny’s has done for several years now to help out the elementary school.
Johnny’s will also be partnering with Slice Out Hunger to participate in the Pizza Across America event on Friday, Feb. 9. They will be donating pizza to the Boys & Girls Club of Chambers County.
