Ms. Phyllis Weldon Nixon

VALLEY, Ala. —  Ms. Phyllis Weldon Nixon, 74, of the Lake Hardin /Valley area and a lifelong resident of Chambers County passed away at her residence on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.

She is survived by her two daughters, Wanda Nixon White (Wayne) and Nancy Nixon Poole (Ken); four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and her sister, Diann Weldon Dubose (Lamar).

She was preceded in death by her infant son, William Rodney Nixon and her sister, Jane Weldon Harper. 

Ms. Nixon was born in West Point, Ga. on August 13, 1943 to the late Henry Horace Weldon and Cora Lee Johnson Weldon.  She attended Lanett High School and retired from the WestPoint Stevens Fairview Plant as a shift supervisor.  She was a member of Spring Road Christian Church in Lanett. She was a loving mother, “Maw Maw,” and a true friend and mentor to many.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. David Bradshaw officiating.  Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10 a.m. EST until the service hour at the funeral home.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in memory of Ms. Nixon to the American Cancer Society, EAMC Oncology Clinic Support Services, Circle of Care Center for Families, or to Valley Haven School.
