LANETT — Chambers County will be on the receiving end of freezing temperatures Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Birmingham.

According to Meteorologist Gerald Satterwhite, there is a strong cold front moving through central Alabama overnight Tuesday causing large drops in temperatures throughout the day. He said the sun could make an appearance Tuesday afternoon but lows could reach the middle to low 20s. He said the wind chill could be in the upper teens.

The National Weather Service website said Tuesday that Chambers County could see winds in the 15 to 20 mph range and listed a 90 percent chance of rain.

At night, the website forecasts gusts of wind up to 25 mph.

Satterwhite said he doesn’t think ice will be an issue because the sun and breezy conditions Tuesday should dry out the roads. 

On Wednesday, high temperatures are forecasted to jump back to the lower 50s, with lows in the upper 20s in the evening. However, Satterwhite said temperatures should remain above freezing after Wednesday.

The National Weather Service website forecasts temperatures in the middle 50s on Thursday, dropping to the middle 30s in the evening.

Friday is forecasted to see similar conditions and the weekend is forecasted to have temperatures in the low 60s during the day.
