CUSSETA — A fire in Cusseta resulted in a home being declared a total loss Friday night.
The family was not home at the time it broke out, according to Matt Shiver, fire chief for the Cusseta Volunteer Fire Department.
The fire department arrived at the home on County Road 82 around midnight to a fully-involved house fire.
Also assisting were fire crews from Lanett, Cusseta, East Alabama, Hughley and Oak Bowery. Three departments brought tanker trucks.
The fire was put out in about 30 minutes, with hotspots managed for longer, according to Shiver.
No one was injured due to the fire. The family was put in touch with the Red Cross for their immediate needs.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
