MR. Theodore Roosevelt Mackey Jr. — 1928-2019

Funeral services for Theodore Roosevelt Mackey, Jr., 91 of Woodland will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ed Vines officiating.  Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Cemetery in Lafayette.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019.

Mr. Mackey passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, at Grady Medical Center in Atlanta.

Survivors include five daughters, Mattie Brown of Woodland, Debra Roberts of Lanett, Rosie Holloway, Marsha Ray and Sharon Williams, all of Lafayette; three sons, Willie Mackey of Columbus, Georgia, and Richard Mackey and Reginald Mackey, both of Lafayette; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Pauline Holloway and Annie Mae Vines, both of Lafayette, Nadine Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, and Lurlene Gasner of Miami, Florida.

A Lafayette native, Mr. Mackey was born on Sept. 4, 1928, the son of Theodore Roosevelt Mackey, Sr., and Ethel White Mackey.  He was a member of Sardis Baptist Church and worked as a fixer for West Point Pepperell.  Mr. Mackey was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Aurelia Vines Mackey; one grandchild; one sister; and two brothers.
