WEST POINT — In a unanimous vote, the West Point City Council approved a land swap between the city and the West Point Development Authority.

The measure moves roughly eight acres of land the city owns on East 10th Street for a 10.5-acre tract of land the Development Authority owns off O.G. Skinner Drive.

This land includes three buildings the city owns – the Active Life (or senior) Center, the Technology Center and the Recreation & Youth Services Center.

With the approval, the city now owns the land the three buildings are on, and the Development Authority has gotten some property that can be developed on the main corridor leading into town from I-85.

In other action, the council approved several other measures unanimously, including:

A resolution for fireworks

An amendment to the 2017 budget

A procurement policy

A federal funds disbursement policy

A sole and single source procurement policy A severe weather and emergency policy

The city also approved its financial report.

The next scheduled meeting is not until Thursday, March 8 at 5:30 p.m.
